Biking is a great way to lose weight. It’s low impact and you can go at your own pace. You can ride outside during good weather or inside on a bike trainer during bad weather. This will help keep you motivated and stop you from making issues about not being able to ride when it’s cold or rainy outside.

Set Goals

Start out slowly and work your way up to longer and harder workouts. If you live close to work, start biking instead of driving. Or fit in a quick bike ride before or after work. The point when you are first starting out is to just get out and start pedaling. Once you are comfortable, set daily and weekly goals. This could be simply to bike more days every week or bike further or faster every time. Set alarms on your phone to remind you to workout or guilt trip you into do it!

Eat before you ride

It’s important to eat before you ride to kickstart your metabolism. Otherwise you will run out of energy quickly and your exercise will be a waste. Your body will think it has to survive without food and start storing fat instead of burning it. Some healthy snack ideas are trail mix, yogurt and granola, and apples or bananas with peanut butter.

Get Proper Gear

When it comes to biking, safety comes first. Don’t ride without a helmet and safety gear like reflective tape and bike lights. Wear breathable layers to wick away sweat and keep you cool. Be sure to get your bike fitted properly to avoid injury or an uncomfortable ride. Consider getting a padded saddle seat cover to make your ride more enjoy and be sure to wear bicycle shorts. Even if you wear them under other shorts, your thighs will thank you since they reduce chafing. You will end up biking longer if you comfortable in the proper gear so you will be more likely to keep working towards your weight loss goals.

Join a cycling group or take a cycling class

Working out with friends will make your workouts more enjoyable. Plus you will be able to hold each other accountable and motivate one other when you need support.
Cycling can be a great way to lose weight and get into shape. It’s easier on your joints that running or jogging because it is low impact. You don’t have to the pressure of going to the gym if you don’t want to. You can start out by biking around your neighborhood or investing in a stationary bike. Set realistic goals to start out with that will keep you motivated so you can start seeing results.
